SuperFeast MSM Powder REVIEW BY DARCY - BIRCHER BAR FOUNDER & OWNER:
What I Like About It:
Joints, Muscles & Injuries - I’m lucky enough to not suffer from arthritis or any major skin complaints (...yet) so my main reason for taking SuperFeast’s MSM is to help relieve joint pain, stiffness and muscle soreness … and it works!
When I use it consistently, I notice that I definitely recover from sports & exercise much quicker with far fewer aches and pains the next day. I’ve also noticed that injuries heal up quicker, both cuts and abrasions as well as muscle strains.
Furthermore, I typically have a pretty robust immune system and based on all the evidence showing how MSM supports the immune response, I’m confident it’s playing a part.
Easy To Take - SuperFeast MSM has a subtle flavour upfront with a ‘bitter’ aftertaste. As such, it blends in easily to smoothies, protein shakes, hot chocolates and anything else that contains a bit of sweetness to balance it.
Affordable - I believe no matter who you are, we all need to be supplementing on some level in the modern world due to soil nutrient depletion and other lifestyle factors that impact our overall wellbeing.
MSM powder is probably one of the best ‘bang for your buck’ supplements available, offering a huge range of evidence-backed health benefits at a fraction of the cost when compared to most other health products.
Super High-Quality & Consistency - As mentioned in a number of reviews now, SuperFeast is one of the best brands I’ve dealt with due to their impeccable sourcing & production standards, general business ethos and dedication to customer service.
As expected from these guys, their MSM powder is some of the purest, safest and most consistent on the market. SuperFeast MSM comes from a proprietary multi-stage distillation process in a HACCP and cGMP certified facility with 25+ years of manufacturing experience. It’s also some of the only GRAS-designated, Kosher and Halal certified, non-GMO, gluten-free, allergen-free, non-shellfish-derived, vegan MSM available.
What does this all mean? It’s basically the best MSM you can get.
What I Think Could Be Improved:
The only real issue I’ve had with SuperFeast MSM powder was my own fault, taking much too high a dose within the first week of using it and ending up with some mild stomach cramps and bloating. Luckily for me, there are no other known side effects apart from this!
As with all herbs, mushrooms and supplements - dosage is a personal thing, you should always start out slow and gradually increase over time!
- Noticeably helps with general aches, joints and muscle pain, as well as injury healing and immune system support
- A slightly bitter flavour that easily works in with anything sweet such as fruit juice, smoothies, protein shakes etc.
- ‘Bang for your buck’ - one of the most affordable supplements with a huge range of science-backed benefits
- A super high-quality product from an excellent company
- I found it a bit harsh on the stomach for the first week (but I was dosing much higher than recommended)

What Is MSM?:
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring form of organic sulphur that is present in all living creatures and essential for a variety of healthy processes in the body.
Even though it is present in many of the foods we consume, modern agriculture and industry have depleted it to very low concentrations so many benefits are now seen from adding it as a supplement to your diet.
High-quality MSM powder as a supplement is simply produced in the same way that it occurs in nature, but further purified and concentrated so that it is potent enough to have positive effects in the body.
Health Benefits of MSM Powder:
There is loads of research now emerging on the wide-ranging benefits of taking MSM, particularly as a high-purity powder. Many people report taking it to address a particular issue (e.g. arthritis) and notice many other improvements as well.
To briefly outline some of the most commonly recognised and researched benefits:
- A potent anti-inflammatory
- Overall pain reduction for the body and joints
- More vibrant skin, hair and nails
- Dissolves bad calcium throughout the body
- Flushing toxins out of the cells
- A gentle cleanser of the liver (phase 2)
- Increases joint flexibility
- Detoxifies bad-estrogen
- Reduce Inflammation
- Improvements for Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis
- Increased energy
Let’s dive in deeper on some of the most evidence-backed benefits below.
A Powerful Anti-Inflammatory:
The anti-inflammatory properties of MSM are well documented by science, with numerous studies showing its ability to inhibit and reduce the production of cytokines and protein complexes that are thought to cause inflammation.
It is the powerful anti-inflammatory effects of MSM that play a major role in its ability to help alleviate joint pain & arthritis, relieve allergy symptoms, reduce skin irritations & assist with exercise recovery.
Alleviating Arthritis & Joint Pain:
MSM is used by many people as an effective supplement to help with joint pain and arthritis symptoms, inhibiting the breakdown of cartilage and reducing joint stiffness and swelling.
Apart from improving arthritis symptoms by reducing joint inflammation, MSM has also been shown to improve the effectiveness of other common arthritis treatments such as glucosamine sulphate, chondroitin sulphate and boswellic acid.
Immune System Support:
Sulphur compounds such as MSM are crucial for a healthy immune system. MSM is found to help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress which are known to weaken your immune system, while also promoting the production of glutathione - an important antioxidant for immune health.
MSM is also indicated to assist the body’s immune response to allergy symptoms, particularly watery eyes, sneezing, itching, runny nose and nasal congestion associated with rhinitis.
Skin Health & Repair:
Through contributing sulphur to the proteins collagen and keratin, MSM is used by many as an effective skin, hair and nail strengthening supplement, as well as to help speed up healing for cuts and abrasions.
It’s anti-inflammatory properties also aid with symptoms such as redness, swelling and irritation associated with skin conditions such as rosacea. Pair MSM with Reishi mushroom for a powerful skin healer.
How To Take MSM:
As mentioned earlier, the flavour of MSM powder is a little bitter but is easy to mask when mixed with anything that is slightly sweet such as juices or smoothies.
My favourite way to take it is simply by stirring it through a glass of water with a dash of lemon and ½ a tsp of Schizandra. Again, the bitter flavour is completely masked and the bioavailability of MSM is significantly increased when taken with vitamin C.
As for dosage, it is recommended to start with ¼ tsp per day and slowly increase from there as your body becomes used to it.
When asked about dosage, the SuperFeast team have said:
“MSM is such a beautiful and powerful mineral. Doses can be taken as high as up to two tablespoons per day, however, most people find their sweet spot with one heaped teaspoon per herb, per day. Dosage is very personal, some people require larger doses - larger bodies, stronger constitutions, while others need smaller doses - smaller bodies, more sensitive constitutions. Your body will let you know if you need more or less as you experiment, and we encourage you to trust your body’s innate wisdom and intuition.”
MSM is safe to take with no significant side effects recorded. Stomach cramps and gastro-intestinal discomfort has been reported when taking excessive doses and as it is a sulphur compound, anyone with a sulphur allergy should avoid it.
Where do SuperFeast source their MSM?:
SuperFeast source their MSM from OptiMSM in the USA.
How much should I take?:
As with all new supplements we suggest you ease your way in. Start with 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon daily in water, juices or smoothies and see how you go! Then increase if/when you desire. For maximum bioavailability, SuperFeast recommend consuming with Vitamin C.
When will I see results?:
There is no cut and dry answer for this question as everybody is unique. Some people may feel benefits immediately while for others it may take a couple of weeks to a month before they feel the shifts within their body. The most important thing with medicinal mushrooms is longevity and consistency as their potent medicinal benefits accumulate over time. SuperFeast recommends taking one or more of their products regularly for at least 30-100 days to really allow them to unfold in your system.
With nothing other than happy customers the whole way through, SuperFeast MSM comes highly recommended. Here are some of my favourite reviews below:
- “I've been taking Superfeast MSM for a while, adding it to a daily tonic containing MSM, Tremella, Beauty Blend, Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen, organic lemon juice, organic whole leaf aloe juice, and either hibiscus rose tea, or just warm water. Either that or ill add it to a turmeric latte. The results are visible externally, and I'll be taking MSM as a daily supplement for a long time knowing the benefits its providing me internally. It's healthy, it's benefits are well-known, it's inexpensive, tasteless, and you know you're getting the best quality version of this mineral when you buy from Mason and the Superfeast team. Highly recommend!” - Tyson O.
- “Love this product! Best quality version I have found. Thank you for your products, your service and amazingness you guys rock!” - Judy F.
- “Taken every morning with shiz and hot water. Great way to start the day! Feeling awesome and flexible! Thanks superfeast for such high-quality products. I will continue to buy in the future xxx” - Millicent Y.
