The best golden blend you'll find

Golden Grind Turmeric Latte Mix REVIEW BY DARCY - BIRCHER BAR FOUNDER & OWNER:

Having proudly produced and sold our own blend for a number of years, the Golden Grind Turmeric Latte Mix definitely ticks all of the flavour and quality boxes we look for.

It is a beautifully warming and nourishing combination that is super easy to prepare at home. It has smooth and calming 'chai-style' flavour profile and we love the traditional & simple recipe - nothing more than turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper.

In my experience, not all mixes are made equal - many use quite cheap and questionably produced raw ingredients. Golden Grind is entirely organic and uses high-quality turmeric (>5% curcumin levels) and cinnamon (Ceylon 'true cinnamon) which makes a huge difference to the flavour and health properties.

As it's a caffeine-free beverage we love this one as a healthy nightcap. A great add-in for active people as well to naturally help with inflammation associated with exercise and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Australia's best turmeric latte

Who is Golden Grind?:

Founded by good friends and housemates, Sage, Ren & Tahli; Golden Grind was launched in Melbourne as one of Australia's first producers of turmeric latte mixes.

Having already established good cafe & restaurant connections, they went from strength to strength quite quickly, taking the latte scene by storm and really helping pioneer Australia's interest in golden lattes!

The 3 founders have always shared a mutual passion for health & wellness, bringing a wealth of experience in Aryuvedic medicine & food science to the brand and every product they've launched since.

With ingredient quality at the forefront of what they do, the GG team have spent countless hours travelling to India and validating their suppliers, improving their processes and making sure they are always working towards producing the best product on the market. This diligence has them well on the way to becoming a certified B-corporation, as well as winning the 'Best Beverage of 2017' as voted by Australian retailers.

History of the Turmeric Latte:

Traditionally used in Aryuvedic medicine some 4000 years ago, Turmeric Lattes (also known as Golden Milk, Turmeric Milk or Golden Lattes) are a modern adaptation of haldi doodh, a traditional Indian medicinal drink used to treat colds, inflammation and general ailments.

With the proliferation of cafe culture and healthy lifestyle movements in the last decade or so, they have become extremely popular in the western world and are being recognised for their delicious flavour and health-promoting benefits.

Golden Grind Turmeric Latte Mix

Tumeric Latte Health Benefits:

While the individual components of a turmeric latte all have their own unique health properties, combining them all in one blend allows them to work harmoniously in the body, and amplifies their individual health properties.

Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) can be very difficult for the human body to absorb if it isn't consumed in conjunction with a few key ingredients - notably black pepper and good healthy fats.

Golden milk is most widely known for their powerful anti-inflammatory properties but is also 'adaptogenic', containing many other significant health benefits such as:

  • Antioxidants for cell protection and fighting free radicals
  • Improved cognition and memory
  • Improved blood and heart health
  • Assist with lowering blood sugar levels
  • Tumour and cancer-fighting properties
  • Antibacterial, Antiviral and Antifungal properties.

Read about some of the incredible studies on each individual ingredient below:

*Turmeric: With over 10,000 peer-reviewed studies, turmeric is one of the most researched medicinal herbs on the planet. An incredibly potent anti-inflammatory, turmeric also aids in numerous other medical conditions (read more here)

*Ginger: Used in traditional medicine for over 4000 years, the active component of ginger, gingerol, is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, as well boosting the human immune response, reducing nausea and aiding digestion among many other things (read more here)

*Cinnamon: Another compound used in medicine for thousands of years, cinnamon has a beautiful aroma and flavour while also being a powerful anti-oxidant and hugely beneficial for brain, gut and heart health (read more here)

*Black Pepper: Black pepper is essential for any good turmeric latte blend. As well as being a powerful stand-alone anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant and digestive aid, the active compound, piperine, increases the absorption of curcumin in the human body by up to 2000x! (read more here

This quick video below by Dr. Greger from Nutrition Facts outlines how taking turmeric with black pepper (i.e. curry powder or golden milk) significantly increases its bioavailability!
