History of the Golden Latte
Traditionally used in Aryuvedic medicine some 4000 years ago, Turmeric Lattes (also known as Golden Milk, Turmeric Milk or Golden Lattes) are a modern adaptation of haldi doodh, a traditional Indian medicinal drink used to treat colds, inflammation and general ailments.
With the proliferation of cafe culture and healthy lifestyle movements in the last decade or so, Turmeric Lattes have become extremely popular in the western world and are being recognised for their delicious flavour and health-promoting benefits.
Golden Grind Turmeric Latte Mix - The Bircher Bar Review:
Having proudly produced and sold our own blend for a number of years, the Golden Grind Turmeric Latte Mix definitely ticks all of the flavour and quality boxes we look for.
It is a beautifully warming and nourishing combination that is super easy to prepare at home. It has smooth and calming 'chai-style' flavour profile and we love the traditional & simple recipe - nothing more than turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper.
In our experience, not all mixes are made equal - many use quite cheap and questionably produced raw ingredients. Golden Grind is entirely organic and uses high-quality turmeric (>5% curcumin levels) and cinnamon (Ceylon 'true cinnamon) which makes a huge difference to the flavour and health properties.
As it's a caffeine-free beverage we love this one as a healthy nightcap. A great add-in for active people as well to naturally help with inflammation associated with exercise and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).
Tumeric Latte Health Benefits:
While the individual components of a turmeric latte all have their own unique health properties, combining them all in one blend allows them to work harmoniously in the body, and amplifies their individual health properties.
Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) can be very difficult for the human body to absorb if it isn't consumed in conjunction with a few key ingredients - notably black pepper and good healthy fats.
Golden milk is most widely known for their powerful anti-inflammatory properties but are also 'adaptogenic', containing many other significant health benefits such as:
- Antioxidants for cell protection and fighting free radicals
- Improved cognition and memory
- Improved blood and heart health
- Assist with lowering blood sugar levels
- Tumour and cancer-fighting properties
- Antibacterial, Antiviral and Antifungal properties.
