Hilbilby Black Label Fire Tonic Review BY DARCY - BIRCHER BAR FOUNDER & OWNER:
The extra chilli, Szechuan Pepper and steep time definitely gives the Black Label more kick than the original. It has a similar flavour profile to the original, however, the extra spice and heat is instantly noticeable and leaves you with a proper 'whiskey warm' feeling in the stomach.
As with the original tonic, the health benefits of the Black Label include boosting the immune system, aiding digestion, promoting good gut health and regulating blood sugar. Add in further stimulation of the metabolism due to the extra chilli/Szechuan component and the Black Label makes for a brilliant daily health tonic.
It took a few shots to adjust but I now love the extra burn from the Black Label. If you're sensitive to spicy food or haven't ever tried a fire cider before, I'd recommend starting with the Original Fire Tonic - Black Label is one for the true Fire Tonic connoisseurs.

Hand-made from an adapted & age-old folk recipe, Black Label Fire Tonic (also known as Fire Cider & Master Tonic) is a raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (ACV) tincture, complete with the Mother of Vinegar & infused with over 23 powerful natural ingredients.
'Black Label' Fire Tonic steps it up a level from the original Hilbilby Fire Tonic, adding a powerful extra hit of chilli and Szechuan pepper, as well as over 12 months more steep and ferment time in the vat!
Hilbilby have launched this one as a limited edition fire cider but after being taken to so well, I wouldn't be surprised if it sticks around for a while.
How to Use:
Black Label works perfectly as a 'Fire Shot' (5ml - 15ml, 1 - 3 times per day).
It also lends itself perfectly to the recipes we listed for the Original Fire Tonic (check them out here), just be ready for that extra chilli kick!
As it is a bit spicier than the original, I love to use this one in cooking. It's the perfect throw over for salads, scrambled eggs, stir-frys and any other savoury dishes.
