Five From The Bar - Anthony Bourdain, Broccoli Lattes & The Great Ocean Cleanup Project!

Five From The Bar
Welcome to 'Five From The Bar!'
In an internet universe full of long-winded and frankly boring content, this is designed to be an invigorating and refreshing 5-minute read!
We aim to put together a quick list of ever-changing, informative, fun and inspiring content to keep you interested, smiling and motivated!
We hope you find something that lights you up - read on below and let us know what you think in the comments!
Quote of the Day:

Given the sad and untimely passing of the talented, outspoken and charismatic Anthony Bourdain earlier this week, it seem's more than fitting that the quote this fortnight is his. Never one to shy away from speaking his mind on all topics food, travel and life - he exemplified passion and dedication to his craft and inspired many world-wide.
"“If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food. It's a plus for everybody.” – Anthony Michael Bourdain (American Chef, Author, Travel Documentarian & Television Personality )

What's Weird in the Health Food World Right Now:

You guys know by now that we love our latte blends and are all about experimenting with flavours and ingredients in the name of health - but this one definitely caught us off guard: Broccoli Lattes.

Launched by the CSIRO with the aim of helping Australians up their daily intake of vegetables, lead researcher Mary Ann Augustin states that 'two tablespoons of broccoli powder is equivalent to one serve of vegetables' and contains 'plenty of fibre, vitamins A, B1 and B6, potassium, zinc and magnesium, among others.'

Made in a similar way to a 'Dirty Chai Latte', the broccoli powder is added to the pulled espresso shot, before the steamed milk is added, with more powder sprinkled on top. One Melbourne cafe is already on board with it - would you be game to give it a crack? Read more about it here

Great People doing Great Things:

Founded by Dutch inventor Boyan Slat at the ripe old age of 18, The Ocean Cleanup Project is the largest rubbish cleanup project in human history! Launching this year after 5 years of research, construction and development, the project aims to eliminate plastic from the world's oceans by 2040!

The project will focus most of it's efforts on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) which is the largest of the five offshore plastic accumulation zones, located halfway between Hawaii and California. This patch alone is estimated to cover 1.6 million square kilometres, which for perspective is an area twice the size of Texas or three times the size of France!

I think this is one of the most incredible undertakings in human history, if you'd like to find out more about it you can head to their website here - or listen to a great podcast session between Boyan Slat and Joe Rogan here.
