What is inflammation anyway?

Inflammation is the body's defense mechanism against bacteria, damaged cells and viruses. It said that a bad diet, stress and allergies could contribute to inflammation. Dr. Axe elaborates more on foods that can cause inflammation.

The Paleo diet aims to remove these foods that cause inflammation. Here are 5 foods you can add to your Paleo diet to help reduce inflammation.

Turmeric Latte | Anti-inflammatory Spice

Turmeric is really getting a name for itself in the anti-inflammatory world. Mark Sisson has written an entire blog on the benefits and features of Turmeric.

This month we have 3 products featuring Turmeric, including The Bircher Bar Turmeric Latte Mix, Kitz Living Foods Paleo Turmeric Bar and the spice is also featured in the curry mix from The Spice Quarter.

2. Ginger

3. Cinnamon

Cinnamon | Anti-inflammatory Spices

Cinnamon is known as the sweet cheater in almost all Paleo baking recipes. It can make any recipe taste just that little bit sweeter. We always include cinnamon in our smoothies. It's also a key ingredient in the At One coconut and goji berry bars.

Cinnamon aid's the reduction inflammation because it helps your body to get rid of waste product in the cells keeping them healthy.

4. Nuts

Almonds | Anti-inflammatory Nuts

Almonds and walnuts are high on the list for the best anti-inflammatory nuts. And good news we've got them in this month's primal box. You can find them in the Yo'Nut's Hormone Loving nut mix and also in the Ella's Wisdom Anzac Cookie. Yum.

Why are nut's anti-inflammatory? Almonds, Cashews and Walnut's are particularly good for reducing inflammation because they are chock full of the good fats. They are also rich in magnesium, l-arginine and vitamin E.

At Paleo Warehouse we are huge fans of green tea, especially Pukka green tea, which features in the October anti-inflammatory primal box. Green tea is full of anti-oxidants and this could aid in reducing inflammation in the body and help treat diseases connected to inflammation.

Some other great Paleo foods to help you reduce inflammation in your body include: leafy greens, coconut oil, fatty fish, broccoli and blueberries.
